DAMIANA
Botanical name: Turnera diffusa
Common name: Damiana
Habitat: Today the plant is found in hot humid climates, including Mexico and parts of Texas, the Caribbean, and southern Africa
Info: Damiana is primarily used as a mild aphrodisiac either for men or women. It is also useful as an anti-depressant and digestive aid, this herb is also used as a treatment for mucous and cough.
You don’t have to look hard to find a hint of its history and reputation. Its second scientific name; APHRODISIACA says it all. Damiana can be used by both men and women to invigorate their sex life. Damiana is also used as an active nerve tonic, a medicine that would invigorate and strengthen a tired nervous system.
Personal: I add Damiana to a tincture formula with other herbs Mugwort, Kava Kava, Lavender and Rosemary called “Happy Dreams/Peaceful Sleep; which offers vivid dreams and a restful nights sleep – I also make Damiana in a tea or tincture blend for the main purpose of enhancing sex.
*caution: too much Damiana can cause headache and insomnia
*avoid during pregnancy
*at this time of writing there were no well-known drug interactions with Damiana
